UK Specials firm announces Iscador distribution deal

UNLICENSED medicines expert The Specials Laboratory has secured the exclusive rights with German and Swiss company Iscador AG to distribute its mistletoe-based therapy products in the UK.

The Northumberland-based manufacturing company signed an agreement that will enable it to offer the herbal-based range of imported products to UK pharmacies from October 2016.

Iscador preparations are made from fermented aqueous extracts of the freshly harvested white-berried mistletoe grown on different host trees such as apple, oak, pine and elm along with metal additions.

Sharon Griffiths, managing director at The Specials Laboratory, said: “We are delighted to have signed this deal with Iscador AG as it allows us to expand our range of products to doctors, pharmacies and hospitals across the UK.”

Mistletoe therapy is a complementary treatment and is not intended to be an alternative to conventional medicine, but rather an appropriate and consistent extension to overall treatment of specific therapeutic areas.

Established in 1999, The Specials Laboratory is one of the UK’s leading makers of specials, operating across three MHRA-licensed sites in North East England. The award-winning firm works with thousands of community and hospital pharmacists and dispensing doctors across the UK supplying unlicensed medicines to help patients on a daily basis.
